Release Notes

With this release, we now have three versions - Free, Plus, and Premium! We have labeled each feature with the version to which the feature applies.

Dynamic Filtering

Premium customers only - if you're interested in Premium, you can schedule some time for a demo and discuss your use case.

Now, you can dynamically filter any report in your org, creating individualized reports for each recipient using only one master report! For some of you, this will mean hundreds of report schedules become one! Dynamic Filtering is a power user's dream, simplifying reporting while enabling you to be as granular as you want when sharing data.

New Lightning Component

Premium customers only

We have added the ability to add a lightning component to any record page. This allows you to see how many report schedules a given record is included in, and also enables you to edit the schedule right from the page.

Ability to Preview Report Schedules

All editions

Gone are the days when you had to change the recipients and save the report to test it! We have added the ability to preview any report schedule and send it to any email, allowing you to verify the report schedule is set up correctly before pushing it live, or test a schedule occasionally and see what it looks like. For schedules that are dynamically filtered (see above feature), you also get a Preview As dropdown where you can choose which recipient you want to use for the generated report.

Additional Formatting Options

Plus and Premium customers

We've added a new file format, Details Only - Excel (.xlsx) since Salesforce added it to their API last year. And we added the ability to change the file encoding for formats that support it (CSV, XLS, and email body), so now all of your characters should come through with no problem.

Note: When opening CSV in some programs, you will need to use the import feature to open it in the correct encoding instead of just double-clicking. Excel, for example, likes to try everything in ANSI, even if the file is in UTF-8 or another encoding.

Easier Access to Logs

All editions
โ€‹

We've made accessing the logs much simpler if something goes wrong while using Report Sender. Now, you can click on the drop-down arrow next to the desired Report Schedule, and you'll be able to see the schedule's status, including the created date, Log record, whether or not it was sent using Send Now, the status, and the error message if there is one. We've also changed how the log details are stored. They're now stored in Files instead of Attachments.

Here is an example of the Log view, showing that three emails were all sent successfully using the Send Now functionality.

Other Fixes

  • When sorting report schedules with numbers in the name, they are now sorted properly.

  • Corrected error handling when clicking Send Now
